Roadmap to become a QA automation engineer in games
I've been asked a few times how to get started in test automation for video games.
Initially I thought "well you need programming skills, QA knowledge, game engine knowledge, ..." and then I realized there is no straightforward answer to this question.
It depends on your current background for example:
- Do you know programming?
- How familiar are you with the game engine? Do you use the game editor on a daily basis?
- Maybe you know these things, but don't have much clue about QA or software testing in general?
To clarify the path leading to QA automation in video games, I created a document outlining the knowledge and skills required for the job.
